Caravan Holidays UK
Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty
A caravan holiday is a quintessentially British break, with many benefits to boot. Many people are looking for a great way to enjoy the long summer months with their family but without breaking the bank. Modern caravans are excellently specified and can comfortably accommodate a large family, so there really is no limit to the holiday possibilities…
We are looking at some wonderful destinations where you can holiday in the heart of a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, which gives you an unrivalled opportunity to experience the delightful British countryside, up close and personal.
The Blackdown Hills run along the border between Devon and Somerset, from Wellington to Honiton. The Hills are steep and wooded, with little villages and hamlets dotted about. Many of the buildings in the villages are traditional – made of cob and thatch, and this is a true unspoilt rural idyll.
Holly Bush Park is a welcoming, family run park in the Blackdown Hills, and it boasts a Four-star rating from Visit Britain (The English Tourist Board). They have a choice of hard standing and grass pitches, and a great site shop which stocks local produce. Best of all, they offer the chance of your own fully fenced 100ft square area to camp in, so kids and dogs are free to play – what more could you ask of a pitch?
The Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is a ribbon of gently rolling countryside stretching round to Dover and the famous white cliffs. There are traditional Kent orchards and hop plantations, as well as Oast houses and ancient woodlands.
If you want a really peaceful getaway then choose the Kent Downs Orchard Caravan Park near Canterbury. With just five pitches available, this is a perfect retreat, placed in a traditional Kent orchard. The orchard produces a variety of fruits and nuts, and the family owners also keep pigs, sheep and free ranging chickens. This is a true rural idyll, ideal for unwinding and getting away from it all.
An amazing 44% of the county of Dorset is covered by the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, so this is a wonderful destination for a holiday. The famous Jurassic Coast is home to Durdle Door and its beautiful geological structures. The whole coastline is part of the Dorset and East Dorset World Heritage Site, and they are jam-packed with natural history.
The beaches are pristine shingle, and visitors can enjoy a range of water sports, bird watching, horse riding, or visit some of the many tourist attractions, which are within easy reach.
Durdle Door Holiday Park is a fantastic family park, with well thought out amenities for all ages. It is in the perfect location if you wish to explore Durdle Door and the stunning Jurassic Coast. There is a wide choice of pitches, including some with a beautiful sea view, and all offer electric hook-ups, warm showers and dishwashing facilities.
So why not try a caravan holiday for your next family getaway? The options are endless…
